Specifications Description | Common Mistakes with Oribital Sanders  SANDING TOO QUICKLY / SLOWLY Sanding can get incredibly boring, which usually leads us to speeding up the sanding process. However, this could lead to uneven surfaces or simply poor results. The same goes for sanding too slowly, this usually leads to over sanding or cutting through certain areas. Finding a nice, even pace is the best way to achieve good results.  TOO MUCH PRESSURE Using more pressure makes the process feel like it is being sped up. When in actuality it is causing swirls, cutting through wood and creating uneven surfaces. Using the grit of the abrasives and the weight of the actual tool is prefered, creating a smooth, gliding motion to help get you those perfect results.  ANGLING THE SANDER Sanders are meant to be used with a flat motion on a flat surface. Using it like an angle grinder is a very common mistake. Doing this usually results in uneven sanding as well as uneven use on the abrasive. Which could possibly lead to you damaging the backing pad.  START ON, STOP OFF This is a simple method that helps many people avoid swirl marks. Avoid starting the sander before it is applied to the surface, and avoid stopping it whilst still working on the surface. This helps make good contact. |
