The SPAANSTEQ HTS-528 brazing rod is renowned for its unparalleled strength in joining cast iron and steel, making it a top choice for professional welders. This high-performing brazing rod flows well for tight-fit joining and repairs across a variety of metals, including cast iron, steel, copper, bronze, nickel, and brass. It's particularly effective for dissimilar metal joints, offering excellent wetness on both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With its high machinability despite its hardness, HTS-528 is ideal for demanding applications requiring a durable and strong bond.

More Information
Specifications Description
  • Superior Strength: With a tensile strength of 102,000 PSI and 30% elongation, HTS-528 outperforms standard cast iron and steel in durability.
  • Versatility: Suitable for a wide range of metals, and particularly effective for joining dissimilar materials.
  • High-Heat Tolerance: Requires temperatures above 760°C for optimal penetration, ensuring robust and lasting repairs.
  • Machinability: Despite its hardness (92 Brinell), it can be machined, ground, polished, and painted to meet precise finishing requirements.
  • Integrated Flux: Built-in flux eliminates the need for separate flux, facilitating easier and cleaner application.

Technical Specifications:

  • Tensile Strength: 102,000 PSI
  • Elongation: 30%
  • Bonding Temperature: Above 760°C
  • Flow Quality: Excellent
  • AWS Specification: A5.7
  • Hardness: 92 Brinell
  • Fuming Level: Low

Usage Instructions:

  1. Prepare the metal surface by opening the pores around the repair area, drilling, and grinding out a U-shape to remove hairline cracks.
  2. Heat the area to 760°C using a brazing tip, monitoring for the metal to turn red.
  3. Test the rod on the metal outside the main flame area; the flux core will melt before the rod.
  4. Once the rod melts, scratch it around the repair area to allow the flux to mix with the molten rod, creating a strong bond.

Applications:

  • Ideal for repairing cast iron manifolds, high-stress parts, cracks in blocks, or bodywork such as car floor sheet metal.
  • Suitable for a wide range of industrial and automotive welding tasks requiring high-strength bonds.
